A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
a Caspin Journey
A UNIQUE ACTIVE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE.
A DELICIOUS BREAKFAST TO START THE DAY, A morning walk WITH AN OUTSTANDING LANDSCAPE, a picnic WITH LOCAL PRODUCE, more path AND MAYBE A GUIDED TOUR OF A CHARACTERISTIC LANDMARK, a LONG table TO CLOSE THE DAY. This is what a day actually looks like on a Caspin journey, start to finish.
THE MORNING
7.30
Wake up somewhere worth waking up in.
THE WALK
9.30
BOOTS ON. TIME TO GO.
A short ride gets you to the beginning of our walk. Travelling in small groups of like-minded people means nobody’s waiting on anybody. Your guide sets the direction, share all the information you might need, then its your walk: some people walk ahead deep in conversation, some fall back to take in the view, and somehow everyone arrives more or less at the same time. Every journey has its own rhythm and its own effort, from leisurely to more demanding — worth checking against our Difficulty Level Guide to find the perfect one for you.
THE LUNCH BREAK
13.00
LUNCH IS EXACTLY WHEN YOU NEED IT.
The picnic is a Caspin habit that goes back to Caroline herself: her English side never lost the national instinct for a spread and a good picnic, and it’s stayed at the heart of how we lunch ever since. A picnic table goes up wherever the walk earns it, laid out with local cheese, cured meats, bread from that morning’s bakery, local specials, whatever fruit is at its best this week, fresh, light, and easy to share, while a blanket is spread alongside for guests to sit on. Where the logistics of the day make a picnic tricky, a local restaurant or a packed lunch carried from breakfast takes its place instead.
THE AFTERNOON
14.30
THE SECOND HALF OF THE DAY.
Lunch doesn’t quite end the walking: there’s usually a little more path after, sometimes leading to a coffee stop, sometimes straight to the next hotel, where your luggage is already waiting in your room. From there, it’s time to wind down: most of our hotels come with a pool, gardens, sometimes a spa. On days when the morning’s walk was an easier one, the afternoon often turns into a guided tour instead. One of our local guides shows you round the town you’re staying in, or the museum or monument not to be missed.
THE EVENING
19.00
A table of friends to close the day with.
Dinner is at a local restaurant, hand-picked and personally tried by us first. Most evenings the menu is set for you, one less thing to think about, and a way to make sure you taste something different every time; where it isn’t, we’re on hand to help you choose. Any allergy or intolerance is taken care of, always. Over a glass of wine or a bollicina, the table talks back through the day just lived, and your guide walks you through what’s ahead tomorrow: the logistics, the walk, what to expect. Dinner usually wraps up around 10pm, leaving plenty of time to rest before the next day begins.
