Country Profile: Aeolian Islands
Situated off the north coast of Sicily the Aeolian Islands Archipelago is unique and made up of seven volcanic islands, Stromboli, Panarea, Salina, Lipari, Alicudi, Filicudi and Vulcano. Two of them are still active! Settlers have been here since 4000 BC, trading valuable volcanic rocks like obsidian and pumice across the ancient world and a myriad of entangled Greek legends ensued. You can enjoy swimming in crystal waters, mountain and coastal walking with incredible views, mouthwatering cuisine and sweet Malvasia dessert wine.
You will experience all this and more on a Caspin Journeys tour to the Aeolian Island.
In 1995 the film, Il Postino was filmed on the island of Salina, one of the beautiful Aeolian Islands and was an international success. Despite the fame gained from the movie, the Aeolian Islands remain fairly unknown out of Italy and surprisingly unspoiled outside the peak weeks of August.
