Think of a typical image of England and it is likely to be found in the Cotswolds! Join our small group walking tour to stroll through bright yellow mustard fields surrounded by dry stone walls and along winding country lanes which lead to scattered dreamy medieval villages like Stanton and Broadway built of honey-coloured stone and thatched cottages. Walk around the formal gardens and parklands of Blenheim Palace, visit a Benedictine Abbey and a Roman Villa and sit down in a local English pub restaurant for a wonderful meal and a glass of wine or a cheery pint of beer and listen to the laughter of the locals catching up with friends at the end of the each day.

We look forward to being your hosts, to walking up and along grassy escarpments through colourful mustard fields and across enchanting countryside dotted with ancient Oak and Beech trees. Among the highlights are visits to Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill with a landscaped park by Capability Brown, formal gardens at Sudeley castle where the Catheirne Parr, 6th wife King Henry VIII is buried, the ruins of Hailes Abbey, raided and destroyed by Henry’s soldiers. Roman influence also ran deep in England and after our pretty walk to Chedworth Roman Villa you can really step back in time and let your imagination run wild.
We walk along footpaths which were trodden by sheep drovers during the middle ages as they brought their flocks to be shorn and then sold in the lively market towns of Broadway and Chipping Campden. Cotswolds comes from “cots” meaning stone sheep shelters and “wold” meaning rolling hills. This tour is about gentle walking, good company, tasty food and wine in traditional pub restaurants and cheery pints of beer served by a smiley barman and a warm welcome from the locals.

We walk through charming and sleepy Stonesfield and continue across fields and through woods to Charlbury. (3hrs/6miles/9.5km)
- Day 3 Chedworth Roman Villa
Close to the Fosse Way, a Roman road built during Caesar’s invasion of Britain, we find Chedworth Villa located in the Coln valley. (5hrs/10miles/16km)
- Day 4 Cotswold villages walk
We visit the delightful market town of Stow-on-the-Wold with time to admire the antiques and do a little shopping. Then we descend another escarpment to reach an old mill listed in the Domesday Book.
With the sound of a rushing stream in our ears we continue through Lower and Upper Slaughter and admire how exquisitely the many thatched cottages, private and public gardens are kept. The end of this enjoyable walk brings us to the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water with its eccentrically built miniature model of the village. (4hrs/8miles/12.5km)
- Day 5 Moreton-in-Marsh – Batsford – Chipping Campden
Cross open fields from the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh to the Cotswold Falconry Centre to watch a world class falconry display.
